LAS CRUCES, N.M. –
With just one week remaining in its giving year, the Aggie Athletic Club is within striking distance of both its membership and monetary goals for 2021-22.
The primary funding source for NM State student-athlete educational expenses, the Aggie Athletic Club is only $17,000 and 58 members short of its goal for the academic year. As a membership and fundraising incentive, all gifts of $150 or more received by Friday, April 1, 2022, will receive a limited-edition long-sleeve Aggie shirt.
This year, the AAC’s goal is to again eclipse the 1,000 member mark as well as to surpass the $802,000-threshold prior to the deadline of April 1, 2022. With one week to go, the Aggie Athletic Club has 942 active members that make up $785,000 in giving to-date.
“Growth of the Aggie Athletic Club has been one of our greatest achievements as an administrative staff,” commented NM State Director of Athletics Mario Moccia. “Aggie Nation has responded to our request for support in a huge way. While few would believe this a few years ago, we are much closer to $1,000,000 in total giving in a year’s time than at almost any other point in the history of athletic at our institution. Providing room, board, tuition and nutrition is the foundation of the Aggie Athletic Cub’s mission to our 400 student-athletes and I would encourage individuals who have considered supporting NM State Athletics in the past to make that step this week. In addition, we welcome additional gifts from current AAC members as well in effort to reach this historic goal,” continued Moccia.
Just two years ago, the Aggie Athletic Club had grown to over 1,000 members for the first time and provided $802,000 in support to Aggie student-athletes and programs. Unfortunately, with COVID-19 and no home competitions in Las Cruces, the 2020-21 year brought a decline of over $200,000 in giving and under 800 members.
